Robinson, Marchant, farmer.

Marchant ROBINSON 1. died. March 31, 1861 aged 51 yrs, buried at Warren, NS (Warren Baptist Cemetery)

3. The below clipping comes from a History of Parrsboro written by D. J. Taylor in 1900.

"Eunice daughter of John Parr, married Marchant Robinson of Parrsboro.  They lived for a short time at Westbrook and removed from thence to New Brunswick, they had some five or six of a family.  They name their eldest son for the Rev. T.S. Rand who at that time just commenced preaching at Westbrook.  "The name" Silas Tuschess Rand Robinson.  He lived with that name till about two years ago and succumbed."

married to:

They had the following children:
  • Silas Tuschess Rand Robinson born Abt 1835 passed away about 1898 3. From the Pointe de Bute Methodist Cemetery (Pointe de Bute, Westmorland Parish, N.B.)
    • Silas R. Robinson d. 18 Oct 1899 ae 64 yrs
      h/w J. Caroline d. 4 May 1928 ae 98 yrs
  • Roxina/Roxanna ROBINSON born Abt 1842 7 married 1st to BAILEY 2nd married July 24, 1869 to James R. TRENHOLM, age 58 single of Westmorland whose father was John TRENHOLM and Mother was Margaret FOSTER

  • Others? - probably given the census - still eludes me...

The 1861 census from Cumberland Co. had Merchant ROBINSON as the head with 6 males and 7 females.

1. Warren NS (Warren Baptist Cemetery)  Thank you Susan Hill for this information

C42a Robinson, Marchant d. March 31, 1861 aged 51 yrs
C42b daughter Eugena d. aged 1 year
C43 James A d. Mar. 18, 1884 aged 1 year s/o  Doyle, W. S. & Eunice
C44 Eunice d. Mar. 23, 1886 aged 31 yrs wf/o  Doyle, William S.

Working on the speculation of what happened to Eunice when When Marchant Robinson died March 31, 1861 he was 51. His wife Eunice (nee Taylor - she was born circa 1818 - about 42/43 at the time) was pregnant with Edward James ROBINSON who was born later the same year on September 5, 1861

- one daughter (Eunice) between the age of six and nine
- one son (Trenholm) between the ages of four and five
- one son (Alexander) about just turned fifteen (15)
- one daughter (Roxanne) about nineteen (19)
- one son (Silas Tuschess Rand Robinson) about twenty-six (26)

There were at least one other (and more I expect) as there was a Eugena age one in the Warren cemetery also (I do not know what year)

This implies that Marchant was:
- born 1810 +/- 1
- likely married by 1834 (Silas born about 1835)
- Silas was probably born in Westbrook
- Silas was a father to Mary Edith April 18 (same year 1861) in Mount Whatley Westmorland.

What I have found in from Cumberland county marriages..... NEW Information....

Eunice (nee Taylor) remarried 12 Jul 1869  in Amherst, Cumberland, Nova Scotia to a Joseph S ALLEN who was son of Ephraim ALLEN (and Elizabeth). You should recognize the probable Allen tie in - I have not dug further into this piece though.

Eunice was 51 at the time and listed as a widow - residence Point de Bute - her Father was listed as John, and the mother as Elizabeth.   Joseph was 56 and listed as a widower at the time of the marriage. They had Eunice's last name spelt as Robertson (translation from Microfilm I expect)

One of Merchant's and Eunice's sons James E. (Edward) Robinson are with them at the time of the 1881 census.   1881 Canadian Census Botsford, Westmorland, New Brunswick
