William HAYWARD (Henry)

born ca. 1775 Ireland ? died 1850 Hopewell, New Brunswick Married Jane ? ca. 1798

  • Family tradition has it that William, like his elder brother George, may have been born in Ireland and/or baptized at St. Paul's Dublin. However, the Representative Church Body Library of the Church of Ireland confirms that there is no record of the baptism of William at St. Paul's from 1774 through 1778.
  • William was mentioned in his father's will of 2/13/1808, receiving 1 of 4 shares of the residual of the estate after bequeathments to younger children Sarah, Jonathan Copp, Catherine and Henry's 3rd wife Nancy and to brother George. He Married and was Married at the 1803 census, per Eunice Franks, but had no children.
  • His will was probated 4/24/1850, Moncton, NB L. Reg. Office, Book B, pg 362, #1849, Albert Co. The bulk of his estate was bequeathed to his brother George's 9 youngest children. He also provided for 7 VIRGE children, ages very young to age 16. It is possible that William was widowed young and only later Married Jane VIRGE, a widow with children. His land was sold to Hugh Wright of Hopewell.
