James (twin) HAYWARD (Henry)

born 16 Dec 1785 Windsor Twp., Hants, N.S.; died 3 Jul 1858 Goshen, New Brunswick; Married Elizabeth STEVENS 19 Oct 1808 (Elizabeth born ca. 1790).

  • James was mentioned in his father's will of 13 February 1808, receiving 1 of 4 shares of the residual of the estate after bequeathments to younger children Sarah, Jonathan Copp, Catherine and Henry's 3rd wife Nancy and to brother George.

     According to "The Stevens Families of Nova Scotia," James HAYWARD was "of Cumberland Township, NS" when he Married Elizabeth Stevens in October, 1808.

     James HAYWARD was a pioneer settler of the area of Goshen, Albert Co., NB, Canada in about 1822. The area was referred to as "The HAYWARD Settlement." The James HAYWARD land in the Parish of Elgin, Albert Co., NS was on the Upper Goshen Road. James is buried at Old Forest Cemetery, Upper Goshen Road, Goshen, Albert Co., NS along with other HAYWARDs and Grays.

     

  • Married to Elizabeth Stevens on 19 Oct 1808, in Sackville, Westmorland Co., New Brunswick, Canada. Elizabeth was born 1789 - 1780, and died 23 Sep 1869, Elgin Parish, Albert Co., Nova Scotia, Canada they had the following children:

    • Aaron HAYWARD born 1821 in Hopewell Parish, Albert Co., New Brunswick, Canada. In the 1901 census he is a widower (age 80)
    • Eliza O. HAYWARD born Abt. 1823 in Hopewell Parish, Albert Co., New Brunswick, Canada
