John Rutledge LITTLE

John Rutledge 1 LITTLE born 6 Jun 1871 near Goderich Ontario. He died 1957. He was Ralph's <Ralph Walter Logan> maternal Grandfather. He was religious and strong minded, but liked jokes. He farmed, and had first car in Swan River, and serviced Singer Sewing machines.

  • Mary Ellen WARK on Dec 31, 1894 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, who was born 17 Sep 1876 , Holland Tp, Grey Co, Ont died Cal 1950 (WARK info)

*** Note here that the Vital Statistics department has John living in Elm river (P la P) at the time - age 24. Marry Ellen - age 19 - married by the Rev. C.F. Van Norman

  • His parents are listes as John Little and Mary Anne Row (hard to read)
  • Witnesses to the marriage wer:

Little Family Portrait circa 1910 ( just a guess at the date (given the apparent ages of Harry and Elwood) basing on that neither Harry or Elwood showed up in the 1901 census)

They had the following children:
  • Carrie Blanche LITTLE born 4 Nov 1895 in Log Cabin In Family Farm Near Elm River Manitoba Between What Is Now Oakville MB And Elm Creek MB died 13 Feb. 1988.
  • Annie Lavina LITTLE born Jun 2, 1898
  • Harry (Henry Alfred at birth) LITTLE born  Oct 5, 1902 in Portage la Prairie.
  • Elwood LITTLE <unknown when born>, but is remembers as Ralph Walter Logan's favorite Uncle. Ralph's favorite uncle used to run a team of horses and a dray which Ralph would go along on. He used to work for a Dairy, once time when Ralph was with him, Elwood accidentally locked him in a Refrigerator Railway car.
