Jonathan Copp HAYWARD (Henry)

was born ca 1806 (notes also show 1 August 1804)  Hopewell, New Brunswick, Canada. died 14 March 1881 - Mentioned in his father's will of 13 March 1808, Jonathan Copp Hayward inherited "2 lots of marsh and upland on the south side of the Chepody purchased from Jonathan Robinson & Thomas Stevens and 10 pounds to be paid him when he is of age."

  • Spouse: Sarah GOODWIN (William, Daniel) married  Abt. 1827, Sarah is listed as age 70, widowed, in the 1881 census of Botsford, Westmorland, New Brunswick, living with her daughter Rebecca and John Allen. died 10 June 1882 more on the Goodwin Family click here

  • William Henry HAYWARD born 2 7 Dec 1831, Smith's Creek, Kings Co., New Brunswick, Canada, St. John Co., New Brunswick, Canada (S.E. Notes show died 18 Nov 1907) married 1) Olive GOODWIN 2) Eva GOODWIN
    • There is a marriage record for William age 57 (widowed at the time), residence of Botsford, born in Amherst, son of Jonathan and Sarah marrying on November 5th, 1889 to Eva O. Goodwin, age 29, single at the time, resident of POrt Elgin, born in Tidnish, daughter of Hayes? and  Margaret.
  • George N. HAYWARD born 7 Jun 1834 in Woodside, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada. He died 23 Apr 1898 in Amherst, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada  (Port Elgin Fernwood Cemetery (Port Elgin, Westmorland Parish, N.B.)  George N. Hayward 7 June 1834 - 25 Apr 1898) Notes from CTH have him as a Farmer and Milkman) married to Elizabeth CHAPMAN on 15 Sep 1855 in Amherst.
  • Anne HAYWARD - She is listed as 'Annie' on the 1901 census, and was born 22 December 1837 (from the 1901 census) in Cumberland, Nova Scotia? died Aft 1901, married to Gilbert ALLEN on 8 Sep 1856 Botsford Parish, Westmorland, New Brunswick. Gilbert was born on Jun 10, 1823,  - more on this union click here

  • Amanda HAYWARD (spouse Ephraim MURRAY) born 1 June 1848, died 27 January 1882 <some speculation below>
  • Margaret Rebecca HAYWARD (Mrs. John ALLEN more on ALLEN Click here) (1901 census) born 15 Nov 1850, Botsford Parish, Westmorland Co., New Brunswick, Canada died 1917, Port Elgin, Westmorland Co., New Brunswick, Canada  (Port Elgin Fernwood Cemetery Port Elgin, Westmorland Parish, N.B.) John C. Allen 1845 - 1921 Margaret R. Hayward 1850 - 1917)
  • Harvey (Chandler?) HAYWARD born 29 September 1852 Canada died 5 March 1879
  • Joseph HAYWARD born 31 March 1855 Canada
    • There is a marriage record for a Joseph H. HAYWARD, age 45, and single at the time, born of Pugwash, and resident of Tidnish, son of Jonathan and Sarah, marrying October 9th, 1905 to Augusta C. HANNON age 30 and widow at the time, resident of Roslin, born in Little River, daughter of  Thomas and Mary (nee RIND)
  • COPP HAYWARD born  30 April 1858 Canada

 

The below bit of speculation with the census records is an attempt to chase  Amanda's marriage to a Murray - more like a shot in the dark...

Note that there is a entry in Lovells Canadian Directory for 1871 - unsure if same

There was also an Ephraim Murray born to a Barney Murray and Olive Goodwin Abt 1844. The LDS record shows a marriage for Barney and Olive of 27 Feb 1835.

There is also a LDS record for a Barney Murray and a Mary Goodwin who where married Abt 1825.  Both of the above Barneys are shown as born 1805/1806/1808
